Our privacy policy tells you what information we collect from our visitors and how we use it.
We do not allow any outbound links from our site to websites that are not suitable for children, enabling you to relax as your family safely surfs our site.

Tales of Time makes every effort to ensure the site is safe and enjoyable for your family.

There are two sets of information that we collect and store:

1) Automatic

This data is NOT personally identifiable i.e. it gives no indication of who you are. It is collected and stored by Google in response to a visit on our site and simply provides us with statistics which we may analyse and use to improve the site. It is non-specific and may be used at any time, in any way necessary to improve the site, prevent security breaches and to ensure the integrity of data of our servers.

The following information is automatically collected and stored.
It is NOT personally identifiable:

the date and time of a visit, including length of stay.
the originating IP address (the number specific to a computer when it accesses the Web)
the geographical region in which the computer is located. (Only town-specific.)
the type of browser and operating system used (if provided by the browser)
the search made when looking for us (if provided by the browser)

flash version and java support

2) Requested

This data IS personally-identifiable and therefore does include personal information. This information is only requested if you decide to become a customer or member.

In compliance with the COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act), we do not knowingly collect and store any personally identifiable information of children under 13yrs.

The following information would be requested when becoming registering:

First Name
Surname
Email address
Your choice of password.

We only request information necessary for us to set up an account and here is how we may use the information:

NONE of the information submitted at any stage will be passed, sold or rented to third parties. Any information collected by us will be stored by us alone.

Please note that by submitting this information, you are granting us permission to use your details in the following ways, even if your membership or purchase was not completed.(e.g. you did not complete the PayPal page.) You do, however have an opt-out option which we will adhere to. See notes on this below.

To receive a copy of what information we hold about you, please request this via tot.team@talesoftime.co.uk. We will then email you with a response as soon as we can.

First Name and Surname

As you are entering into a transaction with us, it is important for us to know this basic information.
Our 'Welcome back' message uses your first name when you return to our site and have logged in.
In the case that we enter into direct contact with you via email or any other method, we may refer to the details stored.
Your names will not be used in any other way.

Your email is your family user name and will be requested to gain access to your account.

We may email you for the following reasons:

to confirm your email address when you first register
to confirm expiration of your membership
to confirm cancellation of subscription if applicable
to occasionally inform you of new stories, changes or features on the site.
to request voluntarily-submitted ideas or comments to help us improve our site.
If there was a specific issue to be resolved regarding subscription or usage of the materials on the site.

You can choose your own password for access to our site:

This is so that we know that it is you logging in, and that we grant you access.
We can make sure we are giving you the correct number of downloads.

By registering with us, you agree to receive promotional materials via email from Tales of Time.

What we might send:

Occasional newsletters detailing new stories or features on the site.

Should you wish not to receive this information, you can tick the opt-out box when you register.

Should you wish to change your mind later, you can let us know that you would or would not like to receive such emails via the contact us page. We will then endeavour to get this changed for you as soon as possible.

PayPal collection of information:

Once you have registered with Tales of Time, you will be asked to provide information on the PayPal site. This page is completely secure and is designed for you to be safe while transmitting your payment details over the internet.

The record of the transaction will be maintained by Pay Pal in a secure area.
PayPal will never share your bank or payment details with us.

Our account with PayPal only allows us access to the following details:

Your name
Your email address registered with PayPal
What you purchased
When you made the purchase
Method of payment

We keep these details for our records only.

If there is a discrepancy between email addresses, we will only contact you using the one registered with Tales of Time.

Log Files

We use IP addresses to analyse trends, administer the site, track user's movement, and gather broad demographic information for combined use. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information.

Cookies with Tales of Time

A cookie is a piece of data stored on your hard drive containing information. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information while on our websites. Cookies can enable us analyse the interests of our members and visitors to enhance the experience on our site. You can disable cookies by

Should you send us an email which contains further personally identifiable information, we will keep the email only as long as is necessary to reply or resolve the subject matter. Then your email will be deleted.

Please be aware that email is not necessarily secure from interception or misdirection.
We do request that you use the address of somebody who is at least 13 years or older.

Visitors who are Children under the age of 13

Visiting Children may view our site and download our free stories. The Automatic NON Personally Identifiable Information will be collected from their visit, but there is no way for us to determine the age of a visitor.

We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 directly from the site.

Registrants/ Members who are Children under the age of 13
We request that only people aged 13 or over give us their email address. We make this clear when you register.
Members or customers who are children under 13 years old should request permission of a parent or guardian before making a purchase or becoming a member. We have assured that this step is taken by requesting credit/debit card payment.
By inserting your card details, you are confirming that anyone under your guardianship has permission to be using the site.
As Tales of Time only request details of people over the age of 13, you can rest assured that we never knowingly collect any personally identifiable information of any child under that age.

Recommend a friend.

Should you wish to recommend our site to a friend, we request your friend's email address and your first name.

We request your first name so that your friend knows who recommended the site.

By inserting their email address, you are confirming that your friend consents to receive ONE message from us. Tales of Time will automatically send the friend a one-time email, inviting them to visit the site or become a member. This is the sole purpose for which your friend's contact details or your name will be used.

Neither are stored.

Tales of Time encourages comments and feedback.

We greatly appreciate any ideas you have about our site or our service. Any such comments sent to us through our 'Contact us' page, will be kept, anonymously for analysis and for promotional reasons. By providing Tales of Time with such comments, you give us permission to use your comment for promotional purposes indefinately. However, should you wish to make a comment which you do not permit us to use in this way, please say so in the message and we will not use it in this way.

Changes to your account details

If you wish to make changes to your account details e.g. email or password, you can change these on the site via the My Account hyperlink at the bottom of each page. This page also shows you the details we have for your account and how many downloads you have left.

Should you wish to change any other details, please get in touch via our Contact us page or to tot.team@talesoftime.co.uk and we will endeavour to get these changed as soon as possible.

Information Protection

We will take reasonable precaution to protect any information we receive such as those contained in emails until such time as it is deleted.

Information stored by us is kept in a secure location and is only accessible by Abigail Rice and Dalibor Kozak of Tales of Time.

Jurisdiction

This agreement is governed by the laws of the United Kingdom and any litigation or dispute arising from it will be settled in a UK Court of law.

Future change of Privacy Policy

This Policy was last updated on 24th April 2009.

If we need to change this policy in future, we will draw attention to the change on our site in a way that is clearly noticeable. Though unlikely, should we make any considerable changes to our policy, we will email all members to inform them of the fact.

Though we make every effort to preserve user privacy, we may need to disclose personal information when required to do so by law.
